About the event
Nikwasi Initiative will be holding a volunteer day to plant Cherokee Heritage Apple trees near the half-mile marker on the Little Tenneessee River Greenway. We are also partnering with MountainTrue for this event to learn how to responsably manage invasives species that are on the site.
The Ani & Wanei Culture Fest brings two principal mountain cultures together in music, art, and food!
There is fun and learning for the whole family! Here, you can try out some Cherokee words, taste frybread tacos, or even participate in a traditional Cherokee Friendship dance. Relax and listen to Appalachian Bluegrass or the haunting sounds of a Native American flute. Browse the traditional wares of painter, potter, weaver, beader, jeweler, fiberist, and carver.
